Warmoth’s error aids NH’s Spencer

Corydon Central golfer Cody Warmoth’s bad luck turned to fortune for North Harrison’s Dylan Spencer at Monday’s Floyd Central Sectional Golf tournament at Valley View Golf Course.
Warmoth finished his round with a six-over-par 77, good for the third and final spot to advance to the regional meet. But Warmoth signed the wrong scorecard, disqualifying his score.
‘Cody played a really good round of golf,’ Corydon Central assistant coach Zach Lambeck said. ‘He signed the wrong card after the round before he paid attention to it. We were proud of him. He had a good showing as a freshman.’
When Warmoth was disqualified, it opened the door for North Harrison’s Spencer who finished in a tie with Troy Walters for third place. The two shot 78, advancing both to the Seymour Regional. Spencer shot a one-over 36 on the front nine.
Bruce wasn’t the only Cougar to move on. Matt Bruce shot a three-over-par 74, goood for fourth place overall and the top non-team qualifier. Bruce shot a consistant 37 on the front nine and another 37 on the back.
