Otho W. VanPelt

Otho Wathen VanPelt, 84, Utica, died Friday, May 25, 2007, at Providence Retirement Home.
A native of Utica, he was an Army veteran of World War II, a retired chemical engineer for Colgate Palmolive, a 32nd-degree Mason with the Utica lodge, a past Kentucky Colonel and a member of Utica Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita VanPelt; a son, Charles VanPelt; a daughter, Sonia VanPelt; and a grandson, Gregory VanPelt.
Survivors include his wife, the former Martha Wagner of Georgetown; a daughter, Sharon Johnson of Jeffersonville; three stepdaughters, Willa Beth Goebel and Cynthia Smith, both of Georgetown, and Mary Margaret Wagner Burkhardt of Alexandria, Ky.; two granddaughters; seven step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.
Visitation: Tuesday, May 29, after 10 a.m. at Scott Funeral Home’s Main Street Chapel.
Funeral: Tuesday, May 29, at 2 p.m. with burial in Utica Hillcrest Cemetery.
