Lanesville throttles West Washington, 18-1

Lanesville posted nine runs in the opening inning against West Washington on Monday and never looked back in an 18-1 rout of the hosts.
Matthew Beckman (2-0), a senior, pitched all five innings in the win, striking out eight and walking only two. He helped his own cause by blasting a grand slam in the first inning. He wound up with five RBI on a 3-4 day at the plate.
In the second inning, Kenton Acton had a two-run blast as part of a six-run inning, and he finished with three RBI and went 2-4 on the day. Also, Seth Jacobs went 1-2 at the plate, walked twice and scored four times. Six others finished with at least one RBI.
Lanesville (2-0) pounded the Senators’ pitching to the tune of 16 hits in the run-ruled affair.
The Eagles host Corydon on Saturday in a double-header at 11 a.m., then they’ll enter Southern Athletic Conference play at New Washington on Monday at 5 p.m.
