Vernon R. Cheatham Sr.

Vernon Ray Cheatham Sr., 71, Jeffersonville, died Monday, March 12, 2007, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
A native of Springfield, Ky., he was a retired warehouseman for Corhart’s Refracturing, a member of Veterans of the Foreign Wars post in English and AFL-CIO, and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hughie and Dorothy Janes Cheatham, and his first wife, Ann Fraze Cheatham.
Survivors include his wife, the former Marilyn Sue VanWinkle; four sons, Kenny Cheatham of Taswell, Roger Cheatham of Louisville, Vernon Cheatham Jr. of English and Jay Dowell of Clarksville; a daughter, Catherine McLain of Grantsburg; and a sister, Betty Koch of Jeffersonville.
Visitation: Wednesday, March 14, from 1 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, March 15, after 9 a.m. at Scott Funeral Home’s Main Street Chapel.
Funeral: Thursday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at the chapel followed by burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Marengo.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Printing House for the Blind in Louisville.
