Julius W. Smith

Julius W. Smith, 86, New Albany, died Sunday morning, Feb. 18, 2007, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.
Born Nov. 20, 1920, in Navilleton, he was the son of the late Louis V. and Mary Bernadine Koetter Smith.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany and was retired after 25 years of service from Occidental Chemical Corp.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Callistus Smith; two sisters, Marcella Miller and Regina Jacobi; a grandson, Rick Smith; and a great-granddaughter, Krista Ann Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Rosetta Hess Smith; four sons, Jim Smith of New Albany, Dick Smith of Borden, Juder Smith of Greenville and Jerry Smith of Floyds Knobs; four daughters, Phyllis Andres of Sellersburg, Darlene Schy of New Albany, Karen Thomas of Borden and Denise Bomersbach of Georgetown; three brothers, Bob Smith of Floyds Knobs, Bud Smith of Borden and George Smith of Memphis; three sisters, Edith Ems of Borden, Mary Geswein of New Albany and Rita Austin of Louisville; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Tuesday, Feb. 20, from noon to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 21, after 9 a.m. at Generations Funeral Home in New Albany.
Funeral Mass: Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church followed by burial in St. Mary’s Navilleton Catholic Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the donor’s charity of choice.
