Elbert L. Cooke

Elbert L. Cooke, 82, New Albany, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
A native of New Albany, he was an Army veteran of World War II, a retiree of the old U.S. Naval Ordnance in Louisville after 35 years, and a member of the DAV and Pearl Baptist Church in New Albany.
Survivors include five sons, William E., Kenneth E., Jeffery L. and Timothy D. Cooke, all of New Albany, and Anthony W. Cooke of Georgetown; three daughters, Gloria A. Smith and Diana L. Adams, both of New Albany, and Angela L. Schmidt of Aurora; a sister, Ruth Thompson of New Albany; 21 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Monday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m. at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville followed by private burial.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Hospice and Palliative Care of Southern Indiana.
