Alva L. Roberts
Alva Lewis Roberts, 74, Palmyra, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at 6:05 p.m. at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born Nov. 10, 1932, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Odis and Emma Davenport Roberts.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and a carpenter for Erber and Milligan Co.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Ray and Gornet Roberts, and a grandson, J.J. Singleton.
Survivors include his wife, the former Goldia Singleton; two sons, Eddie and Jerry Singleton, both of Palmyra; four daughters, Teena Balentine of Pekin, Sherry Nay and Hollie Roberts, both of Jeffersonville, and Patrica Hardin of Galena; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday, Feb. 15, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 16, after 9 a.m. at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra.
Funeral: Friday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Martinsburg Cemetery.
