John N. Lewellyn

John Newton Lewellyn, 87, Arcola, Ill., formerly of Pekin, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at 4:15 a.m. at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Arcola.
Born Sept. 6, 1919, in Pekin, he was the son of the late John N. and Clara Gorman Lewellyn.
He was a former employee of E.I. DuPont and Spencer Chemicals in Charlestown, and supervisor for Cabot Corp. in Tuscola, Ill., an Army veteran, and a member of First Christian Church in Arcola and American Legion and Moose Lodge, both in Mattoon, Ill.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Mabel Ann Lynch, 11 brothers and sisters, and a stepson.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, the former Margarett Moses; a son, John Lewellyn III of Depauw; two daughters, Karen Adams of Depauw and Anita Lewellyn of Arcola; four stepdaughters, Carla King, Lianne Rardin and Cheryl Moses, all of Arcola, and Linda Furlong of Mattoon; three grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, Jan. 8, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Salem.
Funeral: Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 11 a.m. at Bunker Hill Christian Church with burial in Bunker Hill Cemetery.
Full military rites will be performed.
Officiant: Brother Ronald Lewellen.
