Basil A. Hanger

Basil Allen (Shorty) Hanger, 81, Aurora, Colo., formerly of Marengo, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at his son’s home in Aurora.
Born July 7, 1925, in Speedway, he was the son of the late Elzie (Buck) and Kate Trinkle Hanger.
He was an apprentice sign painter in the late 1940s at Gordon Neon Co. in Denver, Colo., then began his own business, Hanger Neon and Sign Co., which was later renamed Ad Lite Sign Co., from which he retired in 1997. He also ventured in commercial real estate development and property management in Aurora, Colo., and was a charter member of Aurora Elks Lodge 1921.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ethel Sypal Hanger; a sister, Betty Seacat of Marengo; three children, Mark and Steven Hanger, both of Aurora, and Kathy Hanger Moch of Gypsum, Colo.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 26 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Aurora with interment in Fairmount Cemetery in Denver.

The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Lung Association.
