Milltown man dies in single-car crash

A Milltown man was killed early Saturday morning when the car he was riding in crashed near Milltown.
Kenneth D. Moss II, 24, died at the scene of massive head trauma, according to Harrison County Coroner Steve Hamm, who pronounced him dead about 7 a.m.
According to Officer Delana Shepherd of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Dept., Moss was riding in a car driven by his roommate, Jason Starcher, 22, when it left S.R. 64 just west of Main Street.
The car, which was traveling west, initially went off the north side of the road then went back on the road, sideways, before going off the south side of the road, Shepherd said. The car then went backwards down a wooded embankment, rolled over then landed on its top.
Police were notified of the crash about 6:30 a.m., but it may have occurred as much as three hours earlier. Shepherd said the vehicle could not be seen from the road.
Moss was unrestrained at the time he was found, Shepherd said.
Starcher was taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Louisville, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Both men are originally from West Virginia.
The crash is still under investigation, Shepherd said, and criminal charges are pending.
Assisting at the scene were members of the Milltown Volunteer Fire Dept., Milltown Police Dept., Indiana State Police, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Dept. and Harrison County Hospital EMS.
Moss’s body was taken to Glenville, W.Va. Ellyson Mortuary Inc. is handling arrangements.
