George R. Frederick, 76, Belleville, Ill., died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.
Born June 17, 1930, in Corydon, he was the son of the late George S. and Mabel K. Peper Frederick.
He worked briefly at L & N Railroad and then for Texas-Oklahoma Express Trucking Co., where he retired after 25 years. He then worked for Emge-Ellis School District 175 eight years before retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church, was a past Grand Knight, past Faithful Navigator of Knights of Columbus, president of the Columbus Club board, past member of St. Louis Traffic Club, TNT Club of St. Louis, Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity, East Side Transportation Forum and Little Egypt Traffic Club, a member of American Legion Post 58 and an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, the former Verna H. Spaeth; two sons, Mark T. Frederick of St. Louis, and Kevin G. Frederick of Belleville, Ill.; a daughter, Monica S. Paul of Waterloo, Ill.; two sisters, Jean Smith of Louisville and Deanna Frederick of Clarksville; a brother, Ted Frederick of Vincennes; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be tomorrow (Thursday) from 4 to 8 p.m. at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home in Belleville.
A prayer service will be tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus Chalice Service at 6:45 at the funeral home.
The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:40 a.m. Friday for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Belleville. Burial will follow at Valhalla Mausoleum in Belleville. Msgr. Bernard Voss will officiate.
