James O. Sutton Jr.
James O. Sutton Jr., 80, Georgetown, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born Jan. 12, 1926, in Milltown, he was the son of the late James O. Sr. and Leona Deutsch Sutton.
He retired as a safety and security supervisor at E.I. DuPont in Louisville, then worked in security at the backside of Churchill Downs for 13 years. He attended New Hope Wesleyan Church in Corydon, was a Kentucky Colonel, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of VFW Hobart Beach Post 1693 in New Albany, and served aboard the USS LCS(L) 10.
Survivors include his wife, the former Geraldine Barrett; three sons, James O. Sutton III of Marysville, and Michael and Gary King, both of Louisville; three daughters, Mary Hall of Corydon, Linda Moore of Paducah, Ky., and Debbie Beach of Gulfport, Miss.; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, Dec. 1, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 2, after 10 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown.
Funeral: Saturday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Wolfe Cemetery.
Officiant: The Rev. Ron Freeland.
Pallbearers: Cory and Shea Wilson, Eric and Gary King, Tim Moore and Gary Beach.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Hospice and Palliative Care of Southern Indiana.
