Archie Tower, 86, Indianapolis, formerly of Marengo, died Nov. 4, 2006, in Indianapolis.
Born Feb. 12, 1920, in Marengo, he was the son of the late Roy and Maggie Tower.
He was a graduate of Marengo High School, earned a degree from Purdue University in 1941, was a lieutenant commander in the Navy, a veteran of World War II, and studied and taught classes at Massachusetts Institute of Technology from which he held an honorary degree. He was a regional manager for the Trane Co., a heating and air conditioning firm headquartered in LaCrosse, Wis., a registered professional engineer, and a member of Meridian Street United Methodist Church in Indianapolis.
Besides his parents, Tower was preceded in death by seven siblings and his wife of 56 years, Marge Tower.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Tower of Fort Myers, Fla., and Vicki Lickliter of Indianapolis; a brother, Melvin Tower of Indianapolis; three sisters, Annabelle Breeden of Leavenworth, Martha MacFarlane of Bonsall, Calif., and Mary Ellen Davis of Ramsey; and three grandchildren.
Funeral: Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Meridian Street United Methodist Church in Indianapolis with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Officiant: Dr. John Wantz.
