Cougars eye date with Greensburg
After a brief layoff, North Harrison’s football team will return to the gridiron this Friday night at 8 to face host Greensburg (9-1) in the Class 3A Sectional 23 semi-final.
The Cougars received a first-round bye, which gave the coaching staff a chance to take in the opening-round bout between Greensburg and Salem.
‘They are really a great running attack football team. They’ve got three or four different backs, and all of them, at some point this season, have probably had over 100 yards in a game,’ North Harrison coach Jason Mullis said. ‘They’re one of the top rushing offenses in the state. They’ve got two really good running backs, a very physical offensive line, do a great job of coaching and trying to get mismatches and get you out-leveraged. It’s a really effective offense.’
The Cougars counter with the state’s leading rusher, junior Bryan Schroeder, who is averaging 11.49 yards a carry and has racked up 1,942 yards in eight games this season.
North also sports two more potent runners in Isaac Davis (9.4 ypc) and Josh Cheatham (9.4 ypc).
The only common opponent between the two clubs is Salem, which Greensburg defeated last week, 55-12. North shut out the Lions on Oct. 13, 26-0.
The Pirates are ranked 6th in the final Class 3A poll.
