William Wolpert

William F. (Bill) Wolpert, 85, Jeffersonville, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
Born in Elizabeth, he was a retired barbershop owner for more than 40 years in Jeffersonville, served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945 aboard the USS Saratoga during World War II, and was a 55-year member of First Presbyterian Church in Jeffersonville, where he served as an elder. He also served as a county councilman, township trustee and city councilman, and was a member of the American Legion and the VFW, both in Jeffersonville.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Kathleen; a daughter, Suzanne Eckert of Jeffersonville; two sons, Mark Wolpert of Jeffersonville and Randy Wolpert of New Albany; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Visitation: Tuesday, Oct. 10, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home’s Main Street Chapel.
Funeral: Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Jeffersonville with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery at Elizabeth.
