Hazel E. Baumgart, 98, Lanesville, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.
A native of New Middletown, born Aug. 16, 1908, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Margaret Richert Zollman.
She and her late husband, Erwin, were managers of the old Lanesville Telephone Co. from 1924 to 1942. She was a self-employed seamstress, and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lanesville, LWML and Ladies Aid at her church.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Gunther; a brother, Clarence Zollman; and two sisters, Lillian Schwietzer and Edna Zollman.
Survivors include three sons, Edgar, Gerald (Bummy) and Willis (Hook) Baumgart, all of Lanesville; a daughter, Saundra Conrad of Lanesville; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Friday, Sept. 15, at St. John’s Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Officiants: Pastors Richard Heinz and Christopher Truelsen.
Arrangements: Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Pallbearers: Robert and William Baumgart, Jeffrey Conrad, Gary and John Gunther, Rick Cates, James Haire and Kevin Canter.
Honorary pallbearers: James Gunther Jr. and Philip Bays.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the St. John’s Building on Faith Fund.
