Elizabeth E. Bierly

Elizabeth E. Bierly, 90, Elizabeth, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at her home.
Born April 20, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ola Elizabeth Steepleton Evans.
She was a postmaster at Elizabeth during World War II, an office manager at Steepleton’s Billiards in Louisville, and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society in Elizabeth.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Meredith H. Bierly, and a great-grandson, Brian Keith Brown.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol Shaffer of Corydon, and Rose Ann Brown and Fredica Dones, both of Elizabeth; a sister, Cleo Collins of Louisville; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandsons.
Funeral: Monday, Sept. 11, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Elizabeth with burial in the church cemetery.
Officiant: Father Daniel Atkins.
Arrangements: Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Pallbearers: William Keith Brown, Dr. Richard Brown, James Brown, Donald and Joe Dones, and Vincent Johnson.
The family suggests memorial gifts to St. Peter’s Cemetery Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
