Fall sports practices begin Friday and Monday
While the dog days of summer may still be barking, fall sports are just around the corner.
Here’s a quick look at practice dates and times for sports at Corydon Central, North Harrison and South Central.
A reminder that ALL athletes MUST have a completed physical turned in to their coach or athletic director’s office BEFORE they are allowed to practice. Physical forms are available at local high schools or online at www.ihsaa.org
Corydon Central ‘ Girls golf practice starts Friday at 7 a.m. at Old Capital Golf Club; Co-ed cross country begins Monday and is from 6 to 8 p.m., with runners meeting at the high school canopy. For more information, contact coach Ty Guillaume at 812-843-5151; Boys tennis practice begins Monday, and players should report to the tennis courts for practice from 6 to 9 p.m.; Football practice gets underway Monday and runs from 7 to 10 a.m. on the practice field; Volleyball players should be at conditioning this week (8-10 a.m.), then official practice begins Monday and goes from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the gymnasium; Boys soccer two-a-days begin Monday and are from 7 to 9 a.m. and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the soccer field; Girls soccer two-a-days also get underway Monday, and they run from 7 to 8:30 a.m., and 7 to 8:30 p.m.
South Central ‘ All practices for fall sports begin Monday. Co-ed cross country practice is from 6 to 7:15 p.m.; volleyball is from 8 a.m. to noon; boys tennis is from 5 to 7 p.m.; and junior high volleyball is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
North Harrison ‘ Girls and boys cross country teams begin their daily practices July 31 at 7 p.m. at the tower on the cross country course. Team members should be dressed to run, and practice will last approximately one hour. For more information, contact coach Monty Schneider at 347-2407 (day) or 366-3189 (evening); Anyone interested in playing football at North should have already been in touch with head coach Jason Mullis. Official practices begin Monday and run from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with positional meetings going from 3 to 4 p.m.
NH football receives Top 10 ranking
For the first time ever, the North Harrison football team has been tabbed a Top 10 team in a pre-season ranking.
The Gridiron Digest released the poll last month, putting the Cougars at No. 7, behind Heritage Hills and above No. 8 Mater Dei.
