Thomas (Wayne) Newton

Thomas (Wayne) Newton, 57, Corydon, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
A native of Bradford, born Jan. 5, 1949, he was the son of the late Francis and Elenora Donahue Newton.
He was a retired teacher and coach at Green Valley Elementary School in the New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corp. for 27-1/2 years, a member of the National Education Association, Indiana State Teacher’s Association, Who’s Who of American Teachers and Old Capitol United Methodist Church, a participant in the American Heart Walk and National Kidney Foundation Walk, and a Kentucky Colonel.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Newton.
Survivors include his wife, the former Pamela S. Fisher; a daughter, Jessica Hoehn of Corydon; two brothers, Michael Newton of Indianapolis and Tony Newton of New Salisbury; seven sisters, Helene Hart of Louisville, Mary Frances Koetter of Borden, Joann Dohoney of Greenville, Rita Becht of Paoli, Jane Wiseman of New Albany, Kate Lasley of New Salisbury and Carol Smith of Ramsey; and three grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, June 28, from 5 to 9 p.m., Thursday, June 29, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday, June 30, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Friday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
Officiant: The Rev. Doug Finney.
Pallbearers: Randy, Rick, Jerry, Brian and T.J. Koetter and Brian Newton.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Heart Association, National Kidney Foundation, American Cancer Society, Hospice & Palliative Care of Southern Indiana or his church.
