Chief Master Sgt. Andrew K. Damon

Chief Master Sgt. Andrew K. Damon (Ret.) died Saturday, May 20, 2006.
A native of Harrison County, born March 22, 1933, he was a 1950 graduate of New Salisbury High School.
Having served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years, he served 13 of those years at Langley Air Force Base at the Tactical Air Command. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal with First Oak Cluster and did tours in Turkey, France, England and Germany.
Following retirement he worked for the City of Hampton (Va.) and retired as director of fleet management.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Yvonne Utz; a son, Richard K. Damon; and his parents, John E. and Nellie B. McCullum Damon.
Survivors include a son, Robert K. Damon of Virginia; two brothers, John Damon of Kentucky and Pete Damon of Corydon; three sisters, Beatrice Vertrice of Corydon, Ruth Smith of Georgetown and Leona Burres of New Albany.
Graveside service: Wednesday, May 24, at Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
Arrangements: Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in Hampton.
