Clarence M. Ray
Clarence M. Ray, 80, Palmyra, formerly of Scottsburg and Waynetown, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at 4:46 p.m. at Jewish Hospital and St. Mary’s Healthcare in Louisville.
A native of Scottsburg, born Aug. 30, 1925, he was the son of the late Jess Ray and Elizabeth J. Ashabranner Ray.
He served during World War II as a private first class in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Louisville Lions Club and an honorary Kentucky Colonel. He retired as a maintenance man for Georgetown Manor in Louisville and worked at several other area hospitals and nursing homes.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie May Ray.
Survivors include his wife of three years, the former Carole A. Moody Foxworthy; two sons, Ervin Ray of Radcliff, Ky., and Rex W. Ray of Palmyra; three daughters, Bonnie Davis of Tangier, Anita Davis of Crawfordsville and Amy Foxworthy-Witt of Batavia, Ohio; a brother, Melvin Ray of Scottsburg; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Friday, April 28, at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg with interment at Scottsburg Cemetery with full military honors at the graveside.
