William A. Klopp

William Arthur (Bill) Klopp, 89, New Albany, died Sunday, April 9, 2006, at his home.
A native of Petersburg, Ky., born Sept. 20, 1916, he was the son of the late Frank J. and Etta Belle Hoffman Klopp.
He was a diesel engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1693, National Rifle Association, Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and Central Christian Church in New Albany.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, the former Olive M. Davis; six brothers and sisters, Ruthford and Robert Klopp, Ormel Palmore, Leola Carpenter, Marie Moore and Eloise Schacklette.
Survivors include a daughter, Penelope Sonner of Sellersburg; a sister, Virginia Leisure of Madison; a granddaughter; and his wife’s siblings whom he reared, Betty Davis Dean and Sharon Davis Foster, both of Hamburg, Shirley Davis Lamb of Georgetown and William Davis Jr. of Council, Idaho.
Visitation: Tuesday, April 11, 2 to 8 p.m., and after 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, at Generations Funeral Home in New Albany.
Funeral: Wednesday, April 12, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
Military honors: Performed at the grave site.
