Melvin E. Frederick, 77, New Salisbury, died Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.
A native of New Salisbury, born Aug. 23, 1928, he was the son of the late Melvin E. Sr. and Addie B. Dora Frederick.
He retired from National Homes in New Albany, was an Army veteran, and a member of Floyd County and Old Capitol Coon Hunters clubs, Milltown American Legion Post 332 and Old State Capitol VFW Post 2950.
Survivors include his wife, the former Edna L. Riggs; a son, Benjamin Frederick of Cartersville, Ga.; five daughters, Sharon Luckett of Raleigh, N.C., Judy Fisher of New Salisbury, Lisa Mayor of Scottsburg, Paula Earls of Clarksville and Bobbi Jo Archer of Laconia; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral: Sunday, April 2, at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey with burial in Central Barren Cemetery in New Salisbury.
Officiant: Pastor Glenda Riggs.
Military rites: Performed at the grave site by Old Capitol VFW Post 2950.
Pallbearers: Jamie Earls, Tim McDaniel, Stephen Cooke, Jeremy Brown, Rob Carver, Mark Brown, Ben Frederick, Steve Carver and Scott Frederick.
