South Central student to compete at state finals for eXceL Award
South Central Junior-Senior High School student Willie Biel has been named a state finalist in the Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance eXceL Awards competition.
Finalists will have the opportunity to win college scholarships. Now in its 17th year, the eXceL Awards has been sponsored by Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance since the 1989-1990 school year. Over the years, the company has awarded more than $500,000 to students.
The eXceL Awards state finals will be Saturday, April 8, at the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center on the University of Indianapolis campus. The public is invited, and admission is free.
High school students throughout Indiana are competing in six categories of artistic expression: writing, music, two-dimensional art, three-dimensional art, video and performance. Perceptions is the topic for this year’s competition.
Biel is competing in the writing category.
