Primary deadlines near
Campaign signs are starting to appear now that the Primary Election is less than eight weeks away. That means other deadlines pertaining to the election are fast approaching.
Persons who wish to vote in the May 2 election who know they won’t be at home or will be working the polls that day can request an absentee ballot.
Harrison County Circuit Clerk Sherry Brown said forms are available in her office, located on the second floor of the county courthouse, or they can be downloaded from the Internet at www.harrisoncounty.in.gov/department. Click on Clerk’s Office and Courts.
Brown said the election board can also take requests by mail, provided they receive a self-addressed stamped envelope to return the form. Requests can be mailed to Harrison County Circuit Clerk, 300 N. Capitol Ave., Corydon, IN 47112.
Persons not registered to vote who wish to do so, or who need to transfer their registration, have until April 3 to complete the necessary paperwork ‘ an Indiana Voter Registration Application form ‘ to be eligible to vote May 2. Registration forms are also available at the clerk’s office and online.
Brown said the courthouse will be open two Saturdays prior to the election for voting purposes. Those dates are April 22 and 29, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. Proper identification will be required, Brown said.
