Boys tournament begins next week
A field of 393 teams and 5,626 participants are entered as the 96th Annual Indiana High School Athletic Association boys basketball state tournament Series tips off next week at 64 sectional sites.
Sectional play begins on Tuesday at all but one site (Lapel) and concludes with the championship game on Saturday. The regional round is March 11, the semi-states are March 18 and the state finals at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis are March 25.
In all, 389 games will be played over the four-week tournament.
Tickets are $5 per session, or $9 for a season pass.
— In Class 3A at North Harrison, play begins next Tuesday at 6 p.m. as Scottsburg (12-8) battles Silver Creek (9-9). Salem (4-15) goes up against Madison (13-6) in the second game that evening.
On Friday, Tuesdays winners face off at 6, with Corydon Central (11-8) and host North Harrison (8-10) to tip off at approximately 7:30. The championship ‘ at all sites ‘ is slated for Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
— In Class 2A at Southridge, play begins on Tuesday at 7 when Tell City (13-7) battles Southridge (14-5). On Wednesday, North Posey (6-13) faces Crawford County (10-9) at 6, with South Spencer (11-8) awaiting Perry Central (7-13) at 7:30. On Friday, Forest Park (18-3) plays Tuesday’s winner at 6, followed by a scrum between Wednesday’s victors.
— In Class 1A action at Borden, Christian Academy of Indiana (9-10) opens play against Henryville (9-9) on Tuesday at 7. On Wednesday at 6, Borden (13-5) battles New Washington (2-16) and South Central (6-13) faces Restoration Christian (10-9) at 7:30.
Play continues on Friday as Lanesville (18-3) goes up against Tuesday’s winner at 6, followed by a tilt between Wednesday’s winners.
