O’Bannon bust unveiled at Statehouse Monday

INDIANAPOLIS ‘ A bust of the late Indiana Gov. Frank O’Bannon will be unveiled at a Statehouse ceremony Monday, Feb. 13, according to State Rep. Paul Robertson (D-Depauw), who co-chaired a legislative committee that has overseen creation of the memorial.
The ceremony, scheduled to begin at noon in the south atrium of the Statehouse, will include a series of speeches and a reception to celebrate the occasion.
Among those expected to speak at the event are Judy O’Bannon, Robertson, former Gov. Joe Kernan, current Gov. Mitch Daniels and State Sen. James Merritt (R-Indianapolis), who co-chaired the commission with Robertson.
The bust, sculpted by Ken Ryden, is the result of months of research, discussion and careful consideration by a bipartisan, bicameral commission formed in 2003.
‘It has been my honor to take part in an effort designed to recognize one of our state’s greatest public servants, and I hope the people of Indiana will agree that we have come up with an honorable and fitting memorial to Gov. O’Bannon,’ Robertson concluded.
