Charles Wilson Shaffer, 88, Corydon, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.
A native of Harrison County, born April 23, 1917, he was the son of the late Corda and Ethel Reitenbaugh Shaffer.
He was a former school teacher, farmer and member of Hillgrove Christian Church near Corydon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary A. Pitman, and a brother, Lynn Shaffer.
Survivors include two sons, Brent Wilson Shaffer of New Amsterdam and Charles G. (Bub) Shaffer of Corydon; a daughter, Sherry Joann Kaelin of LaGrange, Ky.; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, Feb. 1, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Officiant: The Rev. Rick Utz.
Pallbearers: Mike, Andy and Jamie Shaffer, and Steve, Jeff and Doug Emily.
Honorary pallbearers: Diane Franchville, Marci Bailey, Joanna Barks and LeAnn Emily.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Arthritis Foundation or his church.
