Dwan V. Hublar

Dwan V. Hublar, 65, Indianapolis, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005.
A native of New Albany, born Feb. 2, 1940, he was the son of Chester and Cecelia Dwan Hublar of New Albany.
He was a graduate of St. Xavier High School in Louisville, and earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in music education at Indiana University. He was a band director at Eastwood Middle School for 41 years prior to retiring in 2004, where he was twice awarded Teacher of the Year, was presented with the Bell Ringer Award from the Indiana Dept. of Education, and served as the yearbook advisor. He was active in several organizations, including Indiana Music Educators, Indiana Bandmasters Association, National Band Association, Indiana University School of Music Alumni Board (past president), Indiana University Marching Hundred Alumni (past president), and the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, and served on staff of the Indiana University Summer Music Clinic for 42 years.
Survivors besides his parents include his wife, the former Nancy O’Reilley; two sons, Christopher Hublar of Burlington, Ky., and Brian Hublar of Arlington, Va.; two daughters, Michelle King of McCordsville and Megan Murphy of Louisville; a brother, Robert J. Hublar of Louisville; a sister, Theresia Ordner of Corydon, and four grandchildren.
Visitation: Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Flanner and Buchanan, Broad Ripple Funeral Home and will be Wednesday, Dec. 7, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Indianapolis one hour prior to the service.
Funeral: Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. at the church with burial in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
