CC swimmers compete at Madison Invitational

Corydon Central’s boys and girls swim teams battled at the Madison Invitational on Saturday, with the girls placing third and the boys fourth in the six-team event.
On the girls side, Madison won with a team total of 259 points, followed by Batesville (245), Corydon (221), Silver Creek (134), Scottsburg (115) and Salem (47).
Batesville won the boys title with 293 points, with Madison (237), Salem (144), Corydon (140), Silver Creek (69) and Scottsburg (48) giving chase.
Landing the only wins for the Panthers was Nate Ettinger in the 100 fly (1:03.46) and 200 individual medley (2:19.61).
Tyler Jensen was third in the 500 free (7:22.1) and fifth in the 200 free (2:26.68).
In boys team action, Jenson, Ettinger, Chad Saulman and Daniel Crawhorn paired up to place third in the 400 free relay (4:52.15).
On the girls’ side, Corydon’s 400 free relay team of Rachel Rosenbaum, Alaine Burch, Caroline Turcotte and Hannah Rosenbaum won in 4:38.82; the 200 free relay team was runner-up to Madison in 2:03.61; the 200 medley relay placed fourth (2:18.47).
Also, Rachel Rosenbaum won the 500 free (6:37.75) and teammate Samantha Smith was third in 7:30.49.
Burch was second in the 100 backstroke (1:17.84); Hannah Rosenbaum was third in the 200 free (2:18.71); Leah Dahline and Jorie Newell went 4-5 in the 200 individual medley (3:05.5 and 3:13.9); Sarah VanGaasbeek was runner-up in the 50 free (29.13) and third in the 100 free (1:04.3); Ava Pendleton was fourth in the 100 fly (1:25.15).
