Pigskin pairings announced

In a season where everything that could go wrong, has gone wrong, Corydon Central’s football team finally got a ray of sunlight when pairings for the 33rd annual Indiana High School Athletic Association state tournament were announced on Sunday evening.
The Panthers (0-7) received a first-round bye in Class 3A’s Sectional 23 and will play on the road against whoever wins the North Harrison-Brown County affair.
Over the past 11 years, the Cougars (4-3) have faced Brown County (3-4) in the sectional three times and have fallen in all three games: 38-7 in 2002, 15-14 in 2001, and 14-12 in 1994. The 2001 contest was decided on a touchdown and two-point conversion with no time remaining.
Sectional play begins on Oct. 21 and ends Nov. 4. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door.
The other matchups in Sectional 23 are Batesville (4-3) at Greensburg (5-2) and Salem (5-2) at Edgewood (2-5).
