Milltown man killed in S.R. 66 crash

A Milltown man was killed in a one-vehicle accident late Sept. 2 on S.R. 66, north of Carefree, after his pickup overturned and he was ejected into a cornfield.
Richard C. Will, 24, Milltown, was traveling northbound just past Magnolia Road, about two miles north of Interstate 64, in a 1998 Chevrolet S-10, when police believe he lost control of the vehicle.
Crawford County Deputy Sheriff Glen Crawford was the first to arrive at the scene and determined that Will likely ran off the east side of the road, overcorrected and traveled back across the highway, where the truck then went off the road into the field and overturned.
Crawford County Coroner Chris Brown said Will suffered massive head injuries that caused his death.
‘He was pronounced dead when I arrived on scene,’ Brown said.
The accident was reported by a neighbor to Crawford County Central Dispatch about 11:52 p.m. (fast time). No other passengers or vehicles were involved in the accident, Crawford County Sheriff Richard Scott said.
Scott said officers are not ruling out alcohol or speed as contributing factors in the crash. Investigation is continuing, and results of toxicology reports will not be available for several weeks.
Crawford County Deputy Sheriff Scott Hosier and Leavenworth Town Marshal Debra Young assisted at the scene, along with the Crawford County Ambulance Service and the Leavenworth Volunteer Fire Dept.
