Clemens (Clem) E. Geswein, 95, Fowler, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at 6:40 p.m. at his home.
A native of Lanesville, born Jan. 20, 1910, he was the son of the late Louis and Clara Hubert Geswein.
He attended St. Mary’s Parochial School in Lanesville and was a farmer. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dunnington, Holy Name Society and Catholic Order of Foresters, and served on the board of directors of Benton County Soil Conservation Service for 23 years and was its president. He was also a founding member of the Boswell Ambulance Service Board and Rotary Club, and a longtime member of Benton County Fair Board Association.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Helen Schneider; a daughter, JoAnn Geswein Nichols, and two sons, Cletus and Robert Geswein.
Survivors include five sons, Bert Geswein of Brazil, Paul, Joseph and David Geswein, all of Fowler, and Edward Geswein of Lafayette; two brothers, Elmer Geswein of New Albany and Maurice Geswein of Lanesville; a sister, Marina Schellenberger of Lanesville; 20 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Rosary: Praye Monday, Sept. 5, at Yuill-Shoemaker Funeral Home in Boswell.
Funeral Mass: Tuesday, Sept. 6, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Officiant: Father Donald Gross.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Serenity Hospice or Benton County Catholic School Trust.
