Pekin man dies in collision near New Salisbury
The driver of a mini van died from injuries sustained Monday afternoon, Sept. 5, when his vehicle was involved in a wreck with a car.
Jack L. Gream, 64, of Pekin was traveling north on S.R. 135 when he attempted to pass a Chevrolet Caprice, whose driver was making a left-hand turn onto Flatwood Road north of New Salisbury just after 2:30 p.m., according to Lt. Chris Walden of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Dept.
Walden said the impact of the crash caused the Ford Aerostar van to flip over. Gream, who was unrestrained, was ejected, Walden said.
Harrison County Coroner Steve Hamm said Gream died of massive head injuries.
Walden said it is not known why Gream was attempting to pass the other vehicle. No other information was available yesterday; the crash is still being investigated.
