Dr. Arthur M. Schoen

Dr. Arthur M. Schoen, 93, Louisville, formerly of Harrison County, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.
He was a retired gastroenterologist, the first of his subspecialty in Louisville. He established the Arthur M. Schoen Chair in Gastroenterology in memory of his wife, the former Elizabeth Clark Gentry, and her sister, Anna Lee Gentry Brown, at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where he was a professor emeritus.
He was honored with the Caduceus Award by the School of Medicine for his contribution to the advancement of gastroenterology and was a member of the Gut Club.
He was a graduate of the University of Michigan in engineering and subsequently from the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
Survivors include three nieces.
Visitation: Thursday, July 7, at 1 p.m. at Pearson’s Funeral Home in Louisville with a celebration of his life at 3 p.m. followed by a private interment.
Arrangements: Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
