Carol M. Sands

Carol Martha Sands, 70, New Albany, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005.
A native of New Albany, born Aug. 18, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Charles Walter and Jennie Pearl Emery Sands.
She was a retired bus driver for New Albany-Floyd County School System, and a mail carrier for the New Albany and Georgetown post offices. She was a member of American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post, VFW Hobart Beach Post in New Albany, Hornickel Post American Legion in Elizabeth and Mount Tabor United Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a son, Charles DeMent of Duncanville, Texas; three daughters, Martha DeMent-Lilly of Floyds Knobs, Rebecca DeMent-Mefford of New Salisbury and Sandra Elwanger-Pelkey of New Albany; her companion, David Lee Martin of New Albany; 15 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Saturday, June 18, at Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Home on Oak Street in New Albany with burial in Mount Tabor Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Providence Retirement Home.
