All-SAC diamond teams named

A slew of baseball and softball players from Harrison County were recently named All-Southern Athletic Conference.
In softball, where Lanesville ran up a 4-0 record in SAC play, the state finalist Lady Eagles had six honorees.
Brittany Mix, Allison Horton, Leslie Kaufer, Leeann Wolfe, Erin Harbeson and Ashley Simler landed awards. In addition, Mix was named the league’s Most Outstanding Player and her leader, Kayla Straub, was named Coach Of The Year.
South Central, which had a mark of 2-2 in league play, was represented by Samantha Troutman and Brittany Tuell.
New Washington (3-1) was running up in SAC action, followed by Henryville (1-3) and Crothersville (0-4).
South Central’s baseball team had one entry with Chad McRae. Lanesville’s Kenton Acton and Jeremy Smitley were named all-SAC as well.
Borden’s Duane Potts was MOP and Coach of the Year went to the head of SAC champion Henryville, Jeff Schroeder.
Henryville won the conference championship with a perfect 5-0 record.
South Central, Borden and Lanesville tied for second place with marks of 3-2.
Crothersville went 1-4 in league play and New Washington was 0-5.
The girls all-sports trophy was won by South Central this year. The Lady Rebels edged out Lanesville by one point, 26-25.
