Thelma Askren

Thelma Louise Askren, 79, Corydon, died Sunday morning, May 1, 2005, at Corydon Nursing and Rehabilitation Memory Care Center.
A native of Carroll County, Ky., born Dec. 16, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Edward P. Stockdale and Iola Stewart Stockdale Smith.
She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in New Middletown, and a retired employee of the Harrison County Courthouse, where she worked as a deputy clerk in the treasurer’s office and the auditor’s office.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Stockdale, and a brother, David Dale Stockdale.
Survivors include her husband, The Rev. Charles William (Bill) Askren.
Visitation: Wednesday, May 4, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church.
Funeral: Wednesday, May 4, at 11 a.m. at the church with burial in the church cemetery.
Arrangements: Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Hospice of Southern Indiana or Alzheimer’s Association.
