Billy R. Whitman

Billy R. Whitman, 65, Corydon, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at his home.
A native of Harrison County, born July 7, 1939, he was the son of the late William Ray and Bonnie J. Faith Whitman.
He retired from General Electric Co. in Louisville, was an Army veteran and a charter member of the board of trustees of The Next Step.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Whitman.
Survivors include his wife, the former Verda M. Meredith; a son, William A. (Bud) Whitman of Corydon; a daughter, Lisa Whitman-Current of Georgetown; two brothers, J.D. and Carl Whitman, both of Corydon; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon with burial in Heidelberg Cemetery near Corydon.
Officiant: The Rev. Gary Cooper.
Pallbearers: Chris, Ryan and Brandon Chrusciel, Carl Whitman, Butch Simcoe and Russell Tucker.
Honorary pallbearer: Daniel Chrusciel.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Cancer Care Center in New Albany or The Next Step.
