Boys tourney pairings released

A field of 388 teams and 5,615 participants are entered to play as the 95th Annual IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament Series tips off at 64 sectional sites next week. Sectional play tips off on Tuesday and continues on March 4 and 5, with regional play scheduled for March 12, semi-state action on March 19 and the state finals at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Saturday, March 26.
The championship at each sectional site will be played at 7:30 on March 5.
In Class 3A at Salem, the host school (10-9) opens play against Silver Creek (9-9) in the first game on March 1 at 6 p.m. Scottsburg (16-4) faces off against Madison (9-9) at 7:40.
On March 4 at 6 p.m., Tuesdays winners square off. Then, at 7:30, Corydon Central (5-14) takes on North Harrison (7-11).
The Class 1A New Washington Sectional gets underway on Tuesday night as Lanesville (12-9) meets sectional favorite Restoration Christian (16-4) at 7 p.m.
On Wednesday at 6:30, Christian Academy (1-21) plays South Central (7-12), followed by a battle between Henryville (12-8) and New Washington (2-18).
Sectional play resumes on Friday as Borden goes up against Monday’s winner at 6:30, followed by a matchup between Tuesday’s victors.
In Class 2A at Southridge, the host Raiders (13-6) play Tell City (5-14) at 6:30 p.m. on March 1. On March 2, Crawford County (9-10) squares off against Perry Central (12-7) in the early game, and then Forest Park (15-4) takes on South Spencer (10-10).
On Friday, North Posey (13-6) received the bye and will play Monday’s winner at 6 p.m., followed by Wednesday’s victors.
In Class 4A at Seymour, Tuesday’s games will be Seymour (13-6) against New Albany (13-6); and Floyd Central (6-12) versus Jeffersonville (7-11).
Friday’s first tilt will feature Tuesday’s winners, followed by the bye-game of Jennings County (13-5) and Bedford-North Lawrence (14-5).
Single-session tickets are $5 and a season-pass is available for $9.
— Boys sectional tickets for the 3A tourney at Salem are on sale at the bookstore at North Harrison from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., as well as in the athletic office at Corydon Central during regular school hours. Tickets can also be purchased at C.C. from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight in the athletics office.
