James L. Meagher Jr.

James L. Meagher Jr., 82, Louisville, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at Baptist Hospital East after a brief illness.
A native of Valparaiso, he was a retired chairman of S & T Industries, a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Rotary Club of Louisville, where he served as president from 1982 to 1983, and Bellarmine College President’s Society, where he served as chairman of the board of trustees from 1975 to 1977. He was also a donor to the founders and capital campaigns for the YMCA of Harrison County.
He was president of National Wholesale Hardware Association from 1979 to 1981, and served as vice president for the University of Notre Dame Alumni Board from 1988 to 1989. He was also a founding member of River Road Country Club and former chair of Metro United Way Retirees Campaign.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, the former Floy Terstegge; 11 children, Mary Glen Bradbury, Anne Northup, Virginia, Jim and Jane Meagher, Alice Lord, Katherine Hepler, Patty Glare, Maureen Orsini, Mary T. Plant, and Peggy Saylor of Corydon; a sister, Margaret Phillips; 31 grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral Mass: Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Louisville with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements: Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home in Louisville.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Little Sisters of the Poor, Bellarmine College or the Rotary Club of Louisville.
