Charles Bell Sr.

Charles R. Bell Sr., 90, New Albany, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
A native of Corydon, he retired in 1977 from New Albany-Floyd County School Corp. after being an educator for more than 41 years. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former Virginia Ashton; four sons, Charles R. Bell Jr. of New Albany, John Edward Bell of Arizona, Christopher Bell of Jeffersonville and Glen Bell of Corydon; a daughter, Mary Sue Gorseline of Peru; three sisters, Violet Sweeney of Texas, and Viola McCartin and Bonnie Nolan, both of New Albany; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Saturday, Jan. 8, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with burial in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Frenchtown.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Hospice of Southern Indiana, Our Lady of Perpetual Help or Providence Retirement Home.
