Skid rolls on for CC, Cougars
In a season where such events weren’t entirely unexpected, both Corydon Central and North Harrison are mired in long losing streaks.
For the Panthers, who have lost seven in a row, offensive woes hampered the squad last week in a pair of setbacks.
Perry Central bounced Corydon last Tuesday night, 49-40, and then Floyd Central posted a 49-36 victory on Friday.
Ryan Herndon put in 16 points and Eric Haub, Jared Ashton and Josh Stepro all chipped in six apiece in the loss to Perry.
The Commodores were led by Aaron Carter and Wade Franchville, who put in 12 apiece. Grant LaMar scored 10 as well.
Corydon (1-7) failed to put any players in double-digits against the Highlanders on Saturday.
Lucas Taylor put in nine and Stepro scored seven for Corydon.
Floyd sophomore Kyle Hacklemack lead all scorers with 15 points.
(Corydon dropped nine in a row in the 1996-1997 season and started out 1-12 on the year.)
After starting out 2-0, North Harrison’s skid has reached six games counting last night’s 73-70 overtime setback to Perry Central.
This past weekend, the Cougars fell to Mid-Southern Conference foes Austin (51-34) and Scottsburg (78-59).
Against the Eagles, North was in the game until the fourth quarter, where the club failed to score.
Cory Beach scored 21 for NH.
One night earlier at Scottsburg, Zach Janes scored 14, Beach put in 13 and Jon Couts scored 11.
North’s longest skid in recent years came in 1994-1995, where the club dropped 13 straight.
