Gaye Lynn McGuffey, 45, Washington Island, Wis., died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at her home after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
A native of Frankfort, Ky., born March 31, 1959, she was the daughter of Stewart W. McGuffey of Alabama and Glenda Tillett of Leavenworth.
She was a a 1977 graduate of Corydon Central High School, and a retired attorney last practicing with Parrent and Vish in Louisville.
Survivors besides her parents include her husband, Terry W. Henkel; four children, Michelle Alvey and Jennifer Miller, both of Louisville, and Kathryn and Cooper Henkel, both of Washington Island; two stepchildren, Paul and Adam Henkel; three brothers, Stewart McGuffey of Louisville, Gerald McGuffey of Leavenworth and Earl Cummins Jr. of Fort Stewart, Ga.; three sisters, Judy McGuffey of New Albany, Pamela McGuffey of Colorado and Susan Schenck of Corydon, and four grandchildren.
Her cremains will be buried in Washington Island at a later date. Pearsons Funeral Home in Louisville handled local arrangements.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) in El Segundo, Calif.
