Dr. Karen M. Hays-Ogle

Dr. Karen M. Hays-Ogle, 46, Muncie, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at her home from cancer.
A native of Muncie, born Sept. 3, 1958, she was the daughter of Kermit (formerly of Corydon) and Mary Ellen Hays.
She was a 1976 graduate of Muncie Northside High School and a 1980 graduate of Purdue University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in microbiology. She received her DDS degree in 1984 from Indiana University, where she was a member of Delta Sigma Delta dental fraternity.
She practices dentistry in Dayton, Ohio, and Indianapolis, where she taught at the Indiana School of Dentistry and received the school’s 1989 award for the Most Outstanding Teacher.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Delta Phi Chapter of Tri Kappa Sorority, Indiana Dental Association, and East Central Dental Society that selected her as its 2004 Honor Dentist, Alpha Phi sorority, Panhellenic Council, Alpha Epsilon Delta and Sigma Pi Alpha honoraries. She served as president and other official capacities for the Dental Society and as a delegate to the Dental Annual Session for several years, and was a Tractor Pull Girl.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Hays.
Survivors besides her parents include her husband of 16 years, Douglas Ogle; and three children, Mark, Lauren and Sarah.
Visitation: Thursday, Nov. 11, from 3 to 8 p.m. with a scripture service at 8 p.m. at Meeks Mortuary and Crematory in Muncie.
Funeral Mass: Friday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Muncie with burial in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Officiant: Father Ed Kacena.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Mark Hays Memorial Football Scholarship Fund in care of Ball State University Cardinal Varsity Club in Muncie or to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Muncie.
