Morris leaving Caesars

Barry Morris, vice president and general manager of Caesars Indiana at Bridgeport, is on administrative leave from that position and is pursuing other options.
Reached yesterday at his home near Georgetown, Morris declined to discuss specifics, but said he is exploring ‘another opportunity’ and would ‘be surprised’ if he returned to the complex at Bridgeport.
Morris, 46, a native of Liverpool, has been at the helm since Park Place purchased Caesars in January 2000. Another buyout is pending.
Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. announced in July that it would buy Caesars Entertainment for some $5.2 billion in cash and stock, and thus become the largest gambling company in the world.
That deal, though, is still pending.
Caesars’ spokeswoman Judy Hess also declined additional information. ‘He is on personal leave,’ she said yesterday.
Edward Garruto, vice president of finance and chief financial officer at Caesars, is currently in charge of operations.
