Cleodus Sturgeon

Cleodus E. Sturgeon, 84, Leavenworth, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.
A native of Crawford County, born Nov. 1, 1919, he was the son of the late Omer L. and Myrtle Romine Sturgeon.
He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was an Army veteran of World War II having been selected to serve in the Honor Guard that escorted the late President Franklin D. Roosevelt at the Great Lakes Exposition in Cleveland in the summer of 1937. He was a member of Hope Wesleyan Church in Corydon.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mildred Byerly; two daughters, Sonja Willis of Leavenworth and Suzanne Cafferty of Orlando, Fla.; three brothers, James E. Sturgeon of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Robert L. and O.L. Sturgeon, both of Albuquerque, N. M.; four grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
Visitation: Thursday, Oct. 28, beginning at noon at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Thursday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Fredonia Cemetery.
Officiant: The Revs. Tony Bye and O.W. Willis.
