Lt. Gov. Davis here Sunday for Democrat rally
Lt. Gov. Kathy Davis will be the headline speaker at a Democrat rally Sunday evening at Harrison County Fairgrounds in Corydon.
Harrison County Democrat Central Committee Chair Steve Haggard, himself a candidate for county commissioner, said the gathering will be an old-fashioned ‘Stand on the stump rally,’ and many Democratic candidates, from Lt. Gov. Davis to township trustees, are expected to attend. Haggard is hoping for a large crowd.
The program will start at 5 p.m. under the grandstand and include free refreshments.
Former Indiana First Lady Judy O’Bannon of Corydon will accompany Davis.
Haggard said the event will probably be over within an hour or so because several speakers intend to go to Indiana University Southeast in New Albany to watch the debate between Gov. Joe Kernan and Republican challenger Mitch Daniels.
For more information on the rally, call Haggard at 366-3532.
Ninth District Congressman Baron Hill will speak Thursday, Oct. 21, at a fund-raiser at the Gary Jacobi Farm at 5855 Greenville-Georgetown Road about 1-1/2 miles south of the Greenville Market.
That Farm Supper begins at 5 p.m. Those who wish to attend are asked to RSVP to Anne Buskirk at 812-524-8840 and make at least a $25 donation ‘to help with campaign costs while enjoying the food.’
