Mary L. Babcock

Mary Louise Babcock, 73, Elizabeth, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
A native of Louisville, born Jan. 20, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Sarah McWilliams Murphy.
She was employed as a secretary for Babcock and Sons Logging and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, both in Elizabeth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Babcock, and two brothers, Phillip and Gene Murphy.
Survivors include five sons, Fred Babcock of New Albany, and Glenn, Bruce, Tim and Dale Babcock, all of Elizabeth; three daughters, Brenda Shircliff, Barbara Robson and Sara Deatrick, all of Elizabeth; three brothers, Joseph, Robert (Eddie) and Jerry L. Murphy, all of Louisville; a sister, Cleta Angel of Louisville; 23 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Monday, Oct. 4, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Elizabeth with burial in the church cemetery.
Officiant: Father Louis Manna.
Arrangements: Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Pallbearers: Danny, Adam, Joey, Jacob and Josh Babcock, Carl Shircliff, Nathan Robson and Matt Deatrick.
The family suggests memorial gifts to St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery Memorial Fund.
