Spirit Days needs volunteers

Spirit Days 2004! promises to be much larger than last year but the Elizabeth festival committee needs many more volunteers to make it successful.
There will be a planning session tomorrow night (Thursday) at 7:30 at the South Harrison Community Center in Elizabeth. Committee members will map the layout for the rides and booths and assign specific tasks for each sub-committee.
‘If you live in the Elizabeth community, you can help impress visitors to the festival with your community spirit and cooperation,’ said committee member Denise M. Bishop.
Steven Day, the festival director, is planning a dance, parade, rides, games, booths, a food court, car show, 5K run, and three-on-three basketball tournament.
Spirit Days 2004! is scheduled for the first weekend in October. If you have valuable skills to offer and are unable to attend the planning session or just want information, call 968-0362 or e-mail [email protected]
An important survey for the community around Elizabeth will be inserted in The Monday Shopper on July 12. This will play a large role in determining what will happen at the South Harrison Community Center in the future, so make your voice heard, said Bishop. Copies will also be available in the Community Center lobby during July.
‘If you have expertise that would contribute to our process of implementing a strategic operational plan, you may contact the South Harrison Community Development Corp. (SHCDC) at the phone and e-mail address above,’ Bishop said.
Board meetings are held on the second Saturday of the month at 9 a.m. in the SHCDC office in the Community Center.
